Considerations for the publication of articles in scientific journals

With the aim of publicising and contributing to the dissemination of knowledge generated institutionally through the development of innovative initiatives, distinguishing the appropriate channels to make the results reach the different sectors of society in such a way as to effectively influence the generation of the common good, this guide is published with the aim of guiding UPAEP authors-researchers to publicise their results derived from research projects through scientific journals.

  1. The articles must contain original results of the projects that contribute new findings and that are relevant to the researcher's line of specialisation.
  2. The research projects that are the source of the articles and the content of the articles must contribute to the lines of research in accordance with the current document of the Academic Systems of Social Relevance.
  3. Respect for the intellectual property of our community and external third parties is essential.
  4. Articles from research projects involving living beings must be approved by the Bioethics Committee before publication.
  5. The subject of the journal selected for the publication of an article must be specialised and in line with the subject of the article. It is not advisable to publish in journals on a variety of topics, as this does not promote the desired readership.
  6. It is desirable that through participation in research projects and therefore in the writing of scientific articles, the formation of vocations is achieved, so it will be promoted that they are the result of collaborative work involving students and other researchers.
  7. Priority will be given to the publication of articles in refereed and indexed journals of impact, such as the SCOPUS index (https://www.scopus.com/sources.uri), in the Journal Citation Report (Clarivate: https://mjl.clarivate.com/home ) or in Mexican journals included in the CONAHCYT register https://conahcyt.mx/comunicacion/indice-de-revistas-mexicanas-de-divulgacion-cientifica-y-tecnologica/
  8. For the publication of articles in refereed journals or journals recognised by other indexes different from those mentioned in the previous point, they will be submitted for review for recommendation or feedback to make the best selection of the journal for publication.
  9. The importance of refraining from publishing in journals known to be predatory is emphasised. You can get help from sites like this one: https://thinkchecksubmit.org/journals/spanish/
  10. Researchers may receive some support for the publication of articles taking into account the following considerations:
    1. A high percentage of SCOPUS-indexed journals are open-access and do not require payment for the acceptance and publication of articles.
    2. If authors from other institutions are involved, there must be a clear, transparent and formal account of each institution's participation in the joint project that gave rise to the article.
    3. The applicant must be among the first two authors of the article.
    4. Priority will be given to the publication of articles that are presented as the product of the activities of a formally registered collegiate research body.
    5. Full support will be given only in the case of articles resulting from externally funded projects.
