BASIC AND APPLIED RESEARCH DIRECTION

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Full-time and part-time teaching and administrative staff assigned to the UPAEP to present their documentation proving the publications carried out from 1 January 2022 and up to the closing date of this call, to be evaluated and, where appropriate, certified by the General Directorate for Human Development as meeting the requirements of this call so that it can be properly integrated into their research file in order to grant the corresponding incentive.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  1. To be full-time or part-time teaching or administrative staff.
  2. The supporting documents must include explicit affiliation to the UPAEP.
  3. Consideration will be given to scientific production that is in line with the line of specialisation and research of the person presenting the paper.
  4. Papers published between 1 January 2022 and 4 June 2023 and approved in previous calls will be considered.
  5. To enter the information into the system, the following link will be used: http://investigacionupaep.org/investigadores/
  6. Each publication will contribute to the stimulus within the UPAEP Categorisation System, as long as they meet the stipulated criteria.
  7. The deadline for integrating the evidence into the system will be 4 June at 23:59 hours (Mexico City).
  8. Only one PDF file per registration will be accepted.

Concepts and criteria to be considered:

BOOKS

1. Publication of books by a reputable publisher.

The publisher must have a referee committee that rules on the criteria based on international academic, scientific and intellectual standards.

  1. International: It must be recognised as a specialised publisher in several countries.
  2. National: It must be recognised nationally as a specialised publisher, either in Mexico or in another country. In this category, publications co-published with other Higher Education Institutions will be considered when they are books that have undergone a strict refereeing process.

Required supporting documents: Copy of the title page of the book, copy of the legal page (showing the ISBN) and copy of the table of contents.

2. Publication of a book chapter by a reputable publisher.

Consideration will be given to the writing of one or more book chapters published by a publishing house with a referee committee that rules based on international academic, scientific and intellectual standards.
Required supporting documents: Copy of the book cover, copy of the legal page where the ISBN appears, copy of the table of contents where the authors of the different chapters appear, and copy of the published chapter(s).

3. Coordination of the publication of a book by a prestigious publisher.

“Editing a book” is considered to be an activity in which the person coordinates the editing of a book composed of chapters written by different people. The activity of coordinating the writing of the book and its publication is the one that will be considered. These books instead of the author are marked “Edited by…, or Compiled by…” etc.

The publisher must have a referee committee that rules based on international academic, scientific and intellectual standards.

Required supporting documents: Copy of the book cover, copy of the legal page (showing the ISBN), and copy of the table of contents.

PUBLICATION OF ARTICLES IN SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS.

4. Publication in indexed journals (ISI Web of Knowledge, SCOPUS, JSTOR, Conahcyt, etc).

Articles published in journals of high international academic level, indexed and included in the Science Citation Index or accredited in the Conahcyt Excellence list will be considered.

Required supporting documents: Copy of the journal cover, copy of the legal page (where the ISSN can be seen), copy of the table of contents where the article appears and the published article.

5. Publications in Refereed Journals.

This section will consider those publications that have appeared in journals that guarantee rigorous arbitration.

An international journal is understood to be one that publishes articles by authors from several countries and whose Editorial Board and distribution are equally diverse.

A national journal is one that is recognised nationally as a specialised journal. Journals from other countries that do not comply with the description in the previous paragraph are included under this heading.

Required supporting documents: Copy of the journal cover, copy of the legal page (showing the ISSN), copy of the table of contents showing the name of the author of the article and the published article.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY REGISTERS

6. Patent.

This refers to those patent applications or patents obtained in the national territory or abroad and which are duly documented.

Probative documents required:

  1. Patent granted: Copy of the patent title issued by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property or its equivalent abroad.
  2. Patent application: Copy of the acknowledgement of application filed with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property or its equivalent abroad.

7. Registration of plant varieties (breeder's right).

Applications or titles obtained from the National Seed Inspection and Certification Service associated with agricultural technological development will be considered.

Required supporting documents:

  1. Breeder's title: Copy of the title obtained from the National Seed Inspection and Certification Service.
  2. Application for breeder's title: Copy of the acknowledgement of the application filed with the National Seed Inspection and Certification Service.

8. Utility model

This refers to those utility model applications or utility model titles obtained in the national territory or abroad and which are duly documented and associated with technological developments.
Probative documents required: Utility model title obtained: Copy of the title issued by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property or its equivalent abroad. Utility model application: Copy of the acknowledgement of application filed with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property or its equivalent abroad.

SUPERVISION OF DOCTORAL THESES

9. Supervision of doctoral theses

Only theses that have been completed and defended by a degree examination will be considered. The creativity and originality of the work, the consolidation of its line of research and the demonstrated transcendence of the research (impact) will be evaluated.
Required supporting documents: Title page of the thesis, table of contents and evidence that the thesis has already been defended.

RESEARCH AWARDS

10. Research Awards

An award is considered for first place or recognition granted for research activities by prestigious institutions in accordance with the line of research developed.
Required supporting documents: Diploma or document issued as evidence of the award and a document describing the activity for which the award was obtained.

EXTERNAL SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH PROJECTS

11. Be responsible for a research project with support from external agencies (Conahcyt, Ministry of Economy, foreign foundations, etc.).

The technical direction of a research project with investment from an external agency will be considered.

Required supporting documents: A copy of the resolution document from the funding agency must be submitted stating that resources have been granted for the project and evidence that the resources have been received by the UPAEP.
Note: For this item, projects that already include a payment or incentive in the budget are not considered.

REFEREEING AND MEMBERSHIP OF AN EDITORIAL BOARD

12. Be appointed as a referee of an indexed journal (per event).

Articles published in journals of high international academic level, indexed and included in SCI or accredited in the CONACYT excellence list will be considered.

Required supporting documents: A copy of the document where you are appointed or invited to evaluate an article for publication in that journal.

13. Be appointed as a referee for an international journal.

Articles published in journals of high academic standing will be considered.

An international journal is understood to be one that publishes articles by authors from several countries and whose Editorial Board and distribution have the same diversity.

Required supporting documents: A copy of the document in which you are nominated or invited to review an article for publication in the journal.

14. Editorial Board

The appointment or invitation to participate as a member of the Editorial Board of a publishing house will be considered.

The judgement must be made based on international academic, scientific and intellectual standards.

International: Must be recognised in numerous countries as a specialised publishing house.

Required supporting documents: A copy of the appointment or invitation must be submitted.

PROJECT EVALUATION

15. Appointment as an evaluator of research projects by CONAHCYT, ANUIES, FIMPES, etc.

Required supporting documents: A copy of the letter in which you are appointed or invited as an evaluator of this or that project.

Remarks:

  1. Products for which previous remuneration has been received from UPAEP will not be considered.
  2. For publications financed by UPAEP, 50% of the value of the score will be considered.
  3. If applicable, the applicant may be asked to provide evidence of having complied with the recommendations of the Directorate of Research regarding:
    • Keeping their CVU updated in the Conahcyt system.
    • Having submitted applications to the National System of Researchers or to external funds for research activities.

Deadline for receipt of evidence in the system: Sunday 4 June 2023.
